There's more than one way to live
About Me

Life is Weird

There’s more than one way to live a life. I don’t believe you have to go to college and get a degree, then get a 9-5 job, then get married and have kids, work til you’re 60 and then retire. That’s not the only story there is. But that’s what everyone tells us.

I was a good student in high school. I graduated with a 3.63 GPA, top 20% in my class. And by senior year, I was ready to be done, like most. But all through high school I was told to go straight to college after I graduate, don’t waste any time. It was a no-brainer to go to college by now. I never questioned it and I could never see myself not going at this point. So I went. After 12 straight years of school I started working full-time, I moved into my own apartment (with my brother) and I signed myself up for another 4-6+ years. I was doing what I was told was right and I felt good about that. So, come August of this year, I started my first year of college and now, only a few months in, I’ve started to question things.

Now that I’m just about completely on my own, life looks a lot different. And the story we’re all told to follow doesn’t look very appealing anymore. It’s scary to acknowledge that, but I can’t deny it. I don’t want to live a typical life, and I’ve decided that I won’t. I want an adventure. I want my life to be kinda weird.

I have ideas of what that means -and you’ll be able to see them from my updates- but for the most part, I don’t know exactly what my life is going to look like. I just know it’s going to be different. I’ve been learning and growing a lot the past few weeks, and my relationship with God has become more personal than I ever understood it could be. I don’t know everything, and I don’t know how to lead a perfect life, so I’m following the directions God gives me, and I’m believing he has the best in mind. I’m learning new things everyday and I’m changing quickly.

This is long, and if you read this far, then I’ll leave you with one suggestion. Keep life weird.
