Let the Adventure Begin
It’s official: July 17 I’m flying into Cancun, Mexico. I’ll take a bus down to Belize on the 18th, and then I’ll make my way down to the San Ignacio, Belize region where I’ll be living and volunteering at the Barton Creek Outpost in the middle of the Belize jungle for an indefinite amount of time! And from there, who knows. It’s all come together so well.

A Loss of Innocence
It’s a very bitter-sweet thing. It catches me sometimes when I see pictures of my family and I when I was younger. Life was so different back then. I was so innocent; unaware of the vastness of the world, and life in general. I can only image the things I was concerned with. The world was so new to me that I believed everything that I was told. Now I am able to think for my own, develop my...

Simplicity really is a beautiful thing.
Why are people so eager to acquire so much stuff all the time? Way too much of people’s life worth is placed on material things. Things that if broken, stolen, or harmed in any way create an actual emotional pain in its “owner”. And things will get harmed or stollen. The things that are real and that matter are the things that are formless, like friendships, spirituality, and...

Fascination →
I get so fascinated when learning about ancient civilizations. Particularly the civilizations that got wiped out by different races, like the Native Americans or the Mayans, rather than the ones that our Western culture evolved from. All their philosophies, spiritual understandings, and scientific discoveries were lost when they were wiped out. Their knowledge didn’t envolve into our cultures like...

Check out staydu.com if you’re planning on doing any kind of backpacking or traveling adventures! It’s a pretty new site that’s kind of a mix of workaway.info / wwoof and couchsurfing.org. I’ll be using it while I’m backpacking through Belize and Central America starting July 17th. Use the coupon code 1889NE to get a discount for your account!

wherehappinesslives replied to your post photo set: This is where I’ll be living in almost exactly two months! Are you planning on working as soon as you get there? And like renting an apartment or something? Just curious! I’m actually planning on doing this thing called workaway, where I’ll work for a few hours a day for these host families/resorts/hostels/whoever signs up...

A Thought
All we have is this very second. The past and the future simply do not exist. The past did at one time, but you can never go back. The future will someday, but is nothing yet. So why do we spend 90% of our thoughts in what is nonexistent? All that is ours is right now. When we die, all we “owned” goes away. None of it can go with us. So shouldn’t we claim the only thing that is...

This Unusual Life
Tuesday, I get paid. Tuesday, I buy my ticket to Belize.  This has been a long time coming and there’s been a lot of waiting, thinking, and growing since September when I first decided I would travel and pursue this “unusual” life. I can’t begin to explain how excited I am for this adventure to continue. I have no idea where it will lead, or where I will end up, but...

Younger sister, there you are before me With your innocence, your beauty, and your bliss The things I know would surely kill you And for that, I say nothing at all I watch you through the stained glass and I hold it all _ Younger brother, still a little child This world in which you play will go away I’ll be gone to see you to the world But know that I love you still the same ...
